Are you interested in the rejuvenating effects of eyelid surgery but curious whether the procedure will change your eyes? According to eyelid surgeon Brad Mozaffari, eyelid surgery does change your eyes — but perhaps not in the ways you imagine. Read on as Dr. Moz explains what he means in more detail.

Youthful, Rested Eyes

The goal of most eyelid surgeries is not to change the eyelid shape as much as it is to improve the overall appearance and expression of the eyes.

Excess skin and tissue as well as puffiness or “bags” underneath your eyes can give you a tired, aged and even sad appearance. But by removing excess skin, repositioning displaced fat and re-draping the skin more tightly, eyelid surgery is able to give your eyes (and your entire face!) a more rested and youthful appearance.

Also, if you have a significant amount of excess saggy skin on your upper eyelids that droops over your lash line into your line of sight, removing some of this skin can “open up” your eyes and improve your vision.

When eyelid surgery is performed by a great surgeon, there are usually no telltale signs of surgery, either. The incisions are concealed within the natural folds and creases of the lids, so any scarring is very discreet. The surgical modifications are conservative to avoid producing a frozen or surprised look, but effective in creating a revitalized appearance. In other words, you can expect to look like yourself, only without tired or sad-looking eyes.

Experience Matters

If you desire younger, more refreshed-looking eyes, it’s essential to select a plastic surgeon with the right combination of skills and experience. Dr. Moz is a highly respected eyelid surgeon that has extra training and extensive experience in this area.

Dr. Moz remains at the leading edge of eyelid surgery through his involvement in plastic surgery organizations like the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
