Dr. Moz gets the most fulfilment when patients express their satisfaction and joy from achieving their desired results.
Our medical philosophy and top priority is to ensure patient safety, while also providing our patient with the most advanced and customized treatment options in reaching the best possible results and patient’s utmost satisfaction. Our approach to patient care is that the surgeon and the patient are part of a team and both must work closely together to reach the common goal of best possible outcome. We always strive for perfection.
Dr. Moz is passionate about all aspects of plastic surgery and always keeps at the forefront of the field in advancements and techniques. Due to his expertise and experience in breast reconstruction, surgical education, burn and wound care, Dr. Moz frequently travels across the US to give lectures and presentations on these subjects and his opinion is often sought after by physicians, surgeons, and medical device companies. He has several peer-reviewed publications and he continues to work on new research projects and advancing the field of plastic surgery.
He started his practice in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Marshall University where he did full breadth of plastic surgery procedures including aesthetic face, eyelid, breast, and body contouring, breast reconstruction, wound and cancer reconstruction, burn care, and hand surgery. His love of teaching and training lead him to take on the position of Clerkship Director where he would train medical students and lead them in both didactic and clinical aspects of surgery. During his time at Marshall University School of Medicine, he reached the rank of Associate Professor and was promoted to be the Program Director for the general surgery residency program. As the Program Director, Dr. Mozaffari oversaw training of the new generation of surgeons and revamped the whole curriculum to make Marshall Surgery training program one of the most effective and sought-after residency programs in the nation.
Dr. Moz was one of first plastic surgeons in the nation to provide his patients with the choice of Pre-Pectoral Breast Reconstruction immediately after Mastectomy. This technique, while quite difficult to master, has several benefits for the patient such as faster recovery, better cosmetic results, and much less post-operative pain. In many cases patients can be reconstructed with direct to implant method. In these cases, the patient will not have to go through placement of tissue expanders which would result in months of frequent office visits, painful expansions, and a follow-up surgery of removing the expanders and replacing them with permanent implants. Dr. Moz’s expertise at breast reconstruction and augmentation techniques are unparalleled.
Each year Dr. Moz travels to a developing country where he and his team perform free medical care and life altering surgeries to the less fortunate. He travels with Interplast as well as with Mercy Outreach Surgical Team. Some of these surgeries are cleft lip and cleft palate reconstruction, congenital abnormalities, advance head and neck and skin cancer resection, hand surgery and burn reconstruction. He has traveled to Africa, Caribbean Islands, and Central and South American countries including Nicaragua, Peru, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Lesotho, and Uganda for these mission trips.
Dr. Moz served as the President of the WV Plastic Surgery Society for two terms, leading the society in research and lectures advancing the field. He is also a long-time active Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomat of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and an active member of The Aesthetic Society, California Society of Plastic Surgeons, and San Diego Plastic Surgery Society. He also serves on multiple National Committees in Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Moz is a highly active and energetic individual and his hobbies include skiing, kayaking, horseback riding, racquetball and a love for live music and concerts. He is also a Lego fanatic and is working on becoming a Lego Master in the future! In his spare time, he enjoys traveling to faraway lands and spending time with his wife and two young children.
