Thousands of women have sought out San Diego cosmetic surgeons Drs. Dennis Bucko and Farid Brad Mozaffari for their expertise in breast augmentation. Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari are leading breast implant surgeons who understand the connection between a woman’s sense of self and her breast appearance. With an exceptional eye for artistry and outstanding surgical skills, Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari are highly in-demand. After surgery, their breast augmentation patients enjoy larger, shapelier breasts and a surge in self-confidence.
Breast augmentation is designed to improve the size and shape of naturally small, flat or asymmetrical breasts or breasts that have suffered unwanted effects of pregnancy, breastfeeding or aging. A truly talented surgeon like Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari is able to augment the breasts in a way that looks naturally beautiful.
What Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari Consider The “Ideal Breast”
Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari are San Diego plastic surgeons well known for a concept they refer to as the “ideal breast.” The ideal breast varies by woman and specifically refers to the breast size and shape that makes her feel the best.
Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari collaborate with each patient and discusses her concerns, lifestyle, goals and other relevant factors. Then, the patient is sent home with the Belladerma sizing kit containing a bra and various implants to try out under her clothes for two weeks. She is able to “test drive” different sizes to find the ideal implant that best meets her aesthetic goals and lifestyle needs. With the chance to preview the outcomes, most patients are very satisfied with the final size of their breasts because they have been given the opportunity to choose.
More about Breast Augmentation in San Diego
La Jolla plastic surgeons Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari have performed thousands of breast augmentation procedures in San Diego with great success. They are trained in the most advanced surgical technique and have had experience with many implant styles and shapes to give patients the customized results they desire. In addition to simply increasing the size of the breasts, they are also able to lift” the breasts into a more desirable, youthful looking position, provide fullness in the upper portion of the breast and improve the appearance of the nipples, if needed. Drs. Bucko and Mozaffari have extensive experience with the newer form-stable “gummy bear” implants. These implants can often give a more natural look to the upper breast shape or create a more lifted look than the traditional implants.
A breast augmentation operation involves placing silicone implants in front of or behind the chest muscle (depending on the amount of existing breast tissue). Implants are inserted through an incision around the nipple or in the breast crease. They may be round or teardrop shaped, according to the patient’s desired result.
After a swift recovery, the breasts look larger and fuller. Typically, round implants provide more fullness on top of the breast, giving the breasts a “push-up bra” look that many women covet. On the other hand, teardrop-shaped implants have a gently sloping curve that closely mimics a natural breast shape. Patients are encouraged to discuss their personal breast shape preference with Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari during the pre-operative planning stage, so the surgeon can ensure the chosen implants provide the desired results.
Individual results may vary
If the breasts and nipples have stretched and sagged excessively, breast augmentation can be combined with breast lift techniques to reposition sagging breasts higher on the chest wall. This combination is popular in “mommy makeover” treatment plans designed to address breast changes due to pregnancy and breastfeeding-related problems.
How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost in San Diego?
Breast augmentation cost will vary from patient to patient depending on a number of factors including size and type of implant (saline vs silicone), whether the procedure is a primary augmentation or a restorative surgery, and the experience level of the surgeon. During your pre-op consultation, Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari will provide you with a personal price quote depending on your aesthetic goals.
Are breast implants safe?
Saline, silicone and “gummy bear” implants are all safe and FDA approved for breast augmentation. There is no medical evidence that silicone is harmful to one’s health.
Is breast augmentation painful?
The breast augmentation procedure is not painful. Patients will be under anesthesia during the entire procedure. Some discomfort and soreness is normal after surgery, and can be alleviated by using a combination of oral pain medication, tranquilizers and muscle relaxants prescribed by Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari.
Do implants need to be replaced?
Unless a patient’s preferences change or a rare complication occurs, breast implants don’t need to be replaced and can last for many years. There is no need to replace implants based solely on the length of time implants have been in place.
Will scarring be visible?
Any time an incision is made in the skin, scarring will occur as part of the body’s natural healing response. The good news is that breast augmentation scars can fade significantly over time. Surgical technique plays an important role in how well incisions heal and scar. Working with an experienced and qualified plastic surgeon like Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari can drastically increase a patient’s chances of achieving the most beautiful results with the least noticeable scars. The location of the scar is often negotiable and will be determined in the consultation with Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari.
Can breast augmentation correct breast sag?
Breast augmentation is not considered to be an appropriate treatment for true breast sagging (ptosis). Although an implant alone may fill up the breast it will not raise the nipple of the fold under the breast. Women who desire fuller, perkier breasts with lower nipples may be suitable candidates for a breast augmentation with lift combination procedure (“Mommy Makeover” or “Ideal Breast”). Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari may recommend a combination procedure depending on several factors including the patient’s aesthetic goals and skin elasticity.
Is breastfeeding with implants safe?
Breastfeeding with implants is completely safe. Clinical studies show that the breast implants pose no threat to the woman’s body or baby. However, it is remotely possible that certain incision patterns can interfere with the milk ducts and make proper breastfeeding difficult. Patients who are planning to get pregnant after breast augmentation should discuss this with Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari. This information may influence the timing of the surgery.
What happens during recovery?
Most patients will need to take one to two weeks off their normal routine, including work and exercise, to rest as much as possible. Patients must wear a surgical bra (provided and placed by Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari immediately after surgery) and avoid bending and lifting the arms above shoulder level. Ultimately, the length of recovery will depend on a patient’s personal healing progress and their activity level. Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari will meet with patients for follow-up appointments and may make modifications to their recovery timeline to ensure proper healing and successful results.
What are the side effects and risks associated with breast augmentation?
The usual temporary side effects following breast augmentation include bruising, soreness, tenderness and swelling. Complications with breast augmentation are very rare but may include bleeding, capsular contracture, infection and loss of sensation in the breast and/or nipples. Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari will discuss these risks and side effects in detail during the initial consultation phase.
When will the results be visible?
The initial results of breast augmentation will be visible immediately after surgery. However, it may take up to a year for the final results to stabilize. Dr. Bucko or Dr. Mozaffari can provide a more accurate timeline upon evaluating the patient’s personal healing progress.
TEXTURED IMPLANTS ANNOUNCEMENT
ABOUT OUR PATIENT’S SAFTEY AND WELL BEING
FDA recently made an announcement regarding ALLERGAN BIOCELL textured implants and a possible link to a rare type of lymphoma.
As always, everything we do is with our patients’ safety and wellbeing as our number one priority. Part of this commitment is making sure our staff and patients are well informed and up to date on the latest news and technologies.
Below are the some of the highlights and information regarding the recent FDA announcement
FDA has asked Allergan to stop the sale of its textured implants
This is due to a link to a rare type of localized cancer around the implant
Only Allergan textured implants are affected by this announcement, Allergan smooth implants and implants from other manufacturers are not affected
FDA, device manufacturer, and the plastic surgery community DO NOT recommend removal of textured implants in patients who have no symptoms or issues
This type of lymphoma, called Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is very rare, and when diagnosed early, is completely curable by simple removal of the implant and its capsule.
BIA-ALCL is not a ‘silent’ cancer that will grow unnoticed until it has spread to other parts of the body
First signs are swelling or redness around the breast, caused by fluid gathering around the implant
The swelling or redness will not be subtle or small. There will be significant swelling/redness that is easily recognized by the patient
So far in the US, less than 300 cases of BIA-ALCL has been confirmed since 1996. In the same period more than 6 million women have had breast implants for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes
Your safety and wellbeing are of paramount importance to us. We are always available to see you regarding any concerns that you might have, and we want to share with you all the information that is available, valid, and evidence based.
