Are your upper arms a problem area for you? Do you avoid wearing short-sleeved shirts or fitted tops because you are embarrassed by bulges or sagginess in your arms? You may benefit from brachioplasty, more commonly known as arm lift. The procedure is available with the talented team at Belladerma Cosmetic Surgery & Skin Care Center, led by Dr. Brad Mozaffari.
What Does Arm Lift Accomplish?
Due to factors like genetics, weight fluctuations and the effects of the aging process, stubborn fat can accumulate on your arms and the skin can become loose, wrinkled or saggy. As a result, your arms may look disproportionately wider or even older than the rest of your body.
Arm lift is designed to eliminate the excess sagging skin and unwanted fat to create a more appealing arm contour. The procedure can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other body contouring procedures (particularly after significant weight loss that leaves behind a lot of loose skin and tissue).
Treatment Details
Arm lift is normally performed on an outpatient basis with anesthesia. Dr. Mozaffari creates a short incision on the back of the upper arm, in the least conspicuous location possible. Through the incision, the plastic surgeon removes excess wrinkled skin and tightens the tissue. Liposuction techniques may be used to sculpt the arms. The skin is then tightened around the arm for a leaner and smoother contour. Once Dr. Mozaffari is happy with the new arm contour, the incisions are closed and bandages are placed over the upper arms.
